Troy’s story starts at a home in the Chicago suburbs with a life built by his two hard working parents. Their traditional and loving values mixed with a need for fun and excitement showed Troy the basis for the family structure he wanted to make for his own. He met his husband, Qadree Holmes, and realized he had found someone who shared the same moral principles of family, friendship, and love. They married at a ceremony in the United Church of Christ attend by their families and friends in 2007. Although their marriage was not recognized by the state or federal government at the time, their friends and families celebrated with them all the same. In 2011 they became one of the first couples to receive their civil union from the great State of Illinois in a ceremony attended by hundreds at Chicago’s Millenium Park. They welcomed their son, Nigel, into their family in 2014. Over the years, through hard work and determination, they managed to purchase their dream home here in Flossmoor. The good schools and tree-lined streets are what attracted them to the village. It was the village’s open arms and warm-hearted people that really made this town their home.
